Welcome to our N is for Nest Book List and Activity List!
It is Spring and the the birds are up early singing and digging in our yard for food. It is the perfect time of year to read about Birds and Nests!
We enjoyed reading these books about nests and learning about all kinds of animals (not just birds) and the nests that they build.
Did you know that Cowbirds steal nests from other birds? Or that Frogs build their “nest” hanging over water so that the tadpoles can drop into the water when they are born?
You can print off a list of our favorite NEST books or scroll down to see the list.
Below you will find…

Talk about the sounds that the letter “N” makes.
See if your child can find the N on the cover of each of the Nest Books you read.
See if your child can think of any other words that start with the “N” sound: nine, ninja, nuts, net, nap, night, name, etc
Draw “N” bubble letters and have your child put stickers in the open space. This is good for fine motor skills as well.

Talk about how God cares for His people like an eagle cares for its young.
For the Lord’s portion is his people,
Jacob his allotted inheritance.In a desert land he found him,
in a barren and howling waste.
He shielded him and cared for him;
he guarded him as the apple of his eye,
like an eagle that stirs up its nest
and hovers over its young,
that spreads its wings to catch them
and carries them aloft.
The Lord alone led him;
no foreign god was with him.Deuteronomy 32:9-12
Talk about how Jesus longs to gather His people close to himself.
Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing. Matthew 23:37
I hope you enjoy reading these books about nests, and that you see God’s care for you and your little chicks. You can trust Him to watch over you, like a mama bird watches over her nest. Let Him draw you near to His heart.
Love,
Trish
