Hello!

We are expecting Baby Girl Number 3 here at the Book Built Home! With only 2 months left to go, It seemed like a good time to raid our library for all the new baby books we could find.

Sophie (age 5) was very interested in the books that show how baby is growing inside, and Maggie (age 2) mostly just enjoyed the ones with flaps. 🙂

All of these books are a great way to discuss the more technical aspect of how babies grow inside mom! Appropriate for ages 3-7.

Nine Months: Before a Baby Is Born by Miranda Paul
Beautiful Illustrations of how babies grow. Some of them are actual size! This book traces what is happening inside Mom as Mom, Dad, and Big Sister get ready for baby’s arrival. For extracurious older siblings, the back of the book includes interesting information about amazing things babies can do in utero!

Where Do Babies Come From? Our First Talk about Birth by Jillian Roberts
This is a wonderful book by Dr. Jillians Roberts, a Child Psychologist and author of the Just Enough: Diffifult Topics Made Easy Series. The book is truly “just enough” info for that first talk about where babies come from. Adorable illustrations and gentle, age appropriate answers.

What’s In There? All About Before You Were Born by Robie H. Harris
Another great first book about how babies grow and how the baby “comes out” 😉

Before You Were Born by Jennifer Davis
A cute rhyming, lift-the-flap book about how baby grows.

Baby on the Way by William Sears
This is a great book to help older siblings understand what is happening to and inside of mommy.

Hello In There: A Big Sister’s Book of Waiting by Jo Witek
A whimsical lift-the-flap book. This was Maggie’s favorite!

Little Miss, Big Sis by Amy Krouse Rosenthal
A tender book about becoming a new big sister!

Little Big Girl by Claire Keane
A sweet book about the transition from being a little girl to a big girl once baby brother arrives.

Mama’s Belly by Kate Hosford
This book has beautiful illustrations!

Alligator Baby by Robert Munsch
Sophie (5) thinks this book is hilarious! A super fun read aloud about an unusual baby mixup.

There’s a Baby in There! by Dandi Daley Mackall
This book made us laugh! A big brother chimp does NOT believe that there really is a baby in his momma’s tummy.

You We’re the First by Patricia MacLachlan
A sweet book to remember the “Firsts” of your first born and let them see how you treasure those moments.

Sisters are For Making Sand Castles by Harriest Ziefert
A celebration of sisters.

Babies Don’t Eat Pizza: The Big Kids Book about Baby Brothers and Sisters by Dianne Danzig
A wonderful book to help older siblings know what to expect once baby arrives. Cute illustrations, interesting and helpful information.

The Baby Is Here! and Big Brother Daniel by Angela Santomero
These two books are based on the episode where Daniel Tiger gets a new baby sister.
